With third places at both VLN1 and VLN2, Falken had been enjoying a good kick off to the 2018 motor sports season. At the ADAC 24h Qualifying Race, which serves as the dress rehearsal for the ADAC 24h Race, this positive run was sadly interrupted, with Peter Dumbreck and Stef Dusseldorp making 11th place in the BMW M6 GT3. During the training sessions, everything initially went according to plan. Without taking any unnecessarily excessive risks, Sven Müller and Dirk Werner finished the Top 30 Qualifying session in 10th position in the Porsche 911 GT3 R, with Peter Drumbeck and Stef Dusseldorp following in 18th place in the BMW M6 GT3. The six-hour race commenced in optimal and sunny conditions, with all 89 vehicles falling into line without any serious casualties in the bottleneck of the first bend; both Falken racers skilfully defended their positions – the race fully under control. Particularly the Porsche Duo excelled as the race progressed, clocking up a record time of 08:18.173 minutes; this made them one of the fastest vehicles on the course. The BMW also gave a very convincing show with a best time of 8:18.881 minutes, yet again underscoring the similarly high performance levels of both of the vehicle concepts. After six hours' pure racing action, the BMW M6 GT3 passed the finishing line in a respectable 11th place, a sophisticated race strategy enabling it to make good seven places in the highly competitive field of GT3 vehicles. The Porsche experienced a tyre failure 45 minutes before the end of the race, forcing it to give up early.
